Trump said last year that he would focus on deporting immigrants who were violent criminals. But a study of arrests in major operations in DC, LA, Illinois and Massachusetts shows that the vast majority of those swept up by ICE have no criminal record.

This is how my local paper in the swing state of Nevada covered it: Huge picture, AP story with nary a hint that this was weird or corrupt. As low as Trump’s approval ratings are, they’d be much lower if he didn’t have the help of large swaths of the media

There are so many holes in DHS’s story it’s nuts. They say this woman was driving her boyfriend’s car, who they claim is undocumented. ICE pulls her over, see she’s alone, know they are looking for a man, and still handcuff her while she screams “I am a US citizen,”. Why is ICE harassing women?

part of the reason i've got such contempt for the doomerism around "they don't think they'll have to win an election again" is that this belief — which i agree some of them hold — critically endangers the entire project, it doesn't strengthen it. they are incapable of shifting strategy or pivoting.

I grew up in California in 1970s. The air was brown and stinky and gave me headaches. A lot of people had asthma and low grade lead poisoning. I left at 19 in large part to get away from the toxic air. I live in California now and the sky is clear and it's easy to breathe. I don't want to go back.

A recap of tonight's special election in TN-07 (plus a WAY-TOO-EARLY model of the 2026 midterms). A swing of 13 points would put Dems over 250 seats in the U.S. House. A more reasonable scenario—say, D+6—still gives them the House, and maybe the Senate.

What the special election in Tennessee's Seventh District means for the 2026 midterms
Republicans held a Trump +22 seat — but by only 9 points. A swing half as large would give Democrats the U.S. House in 2026, and put the Senate clearly in play

One of the things about trust is that it is efficient. It saves you having to invest a lot of time and effort in verification, and if placed in the right places, saves you a lot of pain. "The diseases will do the education" is what we get when we don't trust.
