Had a delightful ride today where everyone observed the correct right-of-way at four-way stops, and no one froze in sheer panic because I was riding a bike. Unprecedented. Magnificent. This will day never happen again.

100%. Electoral politics has failed us in a way that should be unacceptable in any liberal democracy. Looking out for your neighbor is one of the only things that matters in a country where the system is beyond fixing.

The thing about health disinformation is that when it comes from the highest office, people believe it. Parents & pregnant women want to do the right thing but are now making health decisions based on fear. This is causing real harm. It's also making our jobs as healthcare professionals harder.

one thing about cycling that is shocking to me is most people apparently strongly prefer to ride only on pavement and "don't want to get their bike dirty" if I didn't get into dirt or gravel once and am not filthy at the end of a ride, my soul is not fulfilled I don't understand clean bike people

To a great degree we’re dealing with the fallout from a generation of men who got lucky once during a specific moment in tech evolution, made to feel as gods, but are all now suffering their mid-life crises having accomplished nothing else of note. These men have made nothing other than money.

My sister and I deal with both things. Her dental hygiene routine is PRISTINE. Like, she budgets ten minutes twice a day for it, carries supplies in her purse. She has had 14 root canals. And every time they finger wag her, despite her trying her damndest. It makes her not want to come back.

One thing I would love to see is dental professionals quit shaming patients for (what they see as) poor dental hygiene. If you’re poor, you don’t go until there’s a problem, and by then what was a minor problem is major. EDS and other chronic diseases cause problems on their own.

I wanna say it again, the right to bodily autonomy is foundational to SO MANY rights, and it is what’s at stake in attempts to legislate trans people out of existence. Any attack on trans rights undermines the right to bodily autonomy for EVERYONE.

Fascists do not believe in free speech as a universal principle. Free speech is a tool they'll happily use, but they don't think everyone should have it. They don't believe in universal moral principles at all. Rights and privileges are for the in-group, obligations are for everyone else.
