Possibly! Jack Kirby did watch a lot of movies. I do know the "rocket landing in England" imagery from it would later be used by Alan Moore in his revamp of Marvelman. As I said on the old site, it's very clever on Moore's part to imbue a british superhero with his genre contemporaries.
