Rogan really NEEDS to be vocally condemning this. He’s partially responsible for it. He endorsed Trump on Election Day to his millions of followers. And had just 1 OUT OF EVERY 50 people who voted for Trump in PA, MI and WI had voted for Harris instead, none of this would be happening.

The importance of this question cannot be overstated: Trump has been communicating directly with Bondi through Truth Social about indicting his enemies. How this question is resolved is critical.

By the letter of the law, the D.C. Council shouldn't have been able to to discuss an issue behind closed doors that was on their public agenda that day. But earlier this year, they created a loophole. What happened this week, and why does it matter? @maustermuhle.bsky.social reports:

This is an excellent observation on how the fact that people still go to school, work, and play in similar ways obscures the nefarious changes taking place and makes those who are highlighting the danger seem like they're catastrophizing.

I've been banging this drum for the past four months or so: DOGE and Russ Vought broke the appropriations process. What's the point of going through the arduous process of crafting 12 spending bills, clearing them through committee and getting them through two chambers if Trump does rescissions?

I was thinking of this earlier when someone mentioned the “ship tax” and how it presaged Trump’s approach to tariffs. (the fact that this came up in the “revolutions” podcast hints at how well it was received)

But in hindsight and the thing I wished I understood when I was younger is college is this period of tremendous freedom (if you're lucky enough to be able to go to a traditional four-year college) with a safety net. And I wish I had used that safety net more.

Not “conservatives”, not “originalists”, not honorable judges with a different ideology. Bad faith actors.

This is worse than I expected: cheering presidential immunity, asking for Humphrey’s Executor to be overturned without mentioning the Fed, complaining about Bostock & upholding the ACA while chiding Dems for seeing the court as a “super legislature” & meekly hoping that it’ll strike down tariffs.

The lesson of the Trump era is to stick with your principles. He’s coming for you anyway, whether you do or not, so you might as well stick to your principles so people don’t laugh at you afterward and you can look yourself in the mirror.

The blame for this lays squarely at the feet of John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Sam Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. They enabled it.

The legitimacy of the power of courts depends on their giving of legal reasons for their decisions. Lacking any democratic authorization, the absence of reasons means it's naked power being asserted, which relieves us of any obligation to obey. We may comply for prudence's sake, but we don't have to

The Trump admin will likely try to strip Salvadoran TPS next year when the 18 month period is up — unless Bukele convinces them not to. Should that happen, it'll hit the DC metro area badly. In 2018, it was estimated almost a third of the local construction industry has TPS.

What an utter disgrace. Noem's actions to "vacate" Secretary Mayorkas' grant of TPS over the direct command in the statute that no early termination can be done was flagrantly unlawful. And yet the majority offers not a SINGLE word of explanation for why they think she could do that. Shameless!

This is messed up, but it's like a lot of Trumpist threats (toward individuals, law firms, universities, businesses, etc.): Even if you comply, the government still reserves the right to do the thing they threatened and, thus, to make more demands. They're not estopped from doing anything.
