Finally finding some time to read through the chaos. Mitral cells will prioritise the soma as spike initiation site upon weak stimuli from olfactory sensory neurons. However, when the stimulus is stronger, they switch to the dendrite! Cool stuff from 2002!

My lab studies both lab mice and naked mole rats. There is a belief amongst some that what we discover in mice will be universally true, and what we discover in naked mole rats will be a weird mole rat quirk. I believe this mouse-centric view of biological systems is very limiting.

To know how S1/M1 supports adaptive control, we first need to understand what is being represented, and no studies have reported what forelimb S1 represents during learning in mice🧠🐭… but we need to model the body🦾: kinematics, torques, muscle activations, & proprioception (muscle spindles & GTOs).
