Playing the glocken, just to spiel something

We don't usually have soda at my house, and if we do it's usually Diet Dr. Pepper or Pepsi. This year, my kids were suddenly requesting Coca Cola in December. "Why do you want Coke?" "It's just such a *wintry* drink." A testament to marketing.

“Good jobs” are a matter of political economy not an inherent feature of tasks. Factory work was miserable (“Satanic mills”!) before unions, OSHA, and the like (temporarily) turned it into a safer, middle class form of employment in the US. Home health aide is no more or less inherently a bad job.

I feel attacked.

A few years ago someone talked about how their teenagers didn't wake up until late morning and it felt a million miles away from my life. Now it's 9:30am on Christmas break and only my youngest is awake. It happens as fast as all the cliches say it does.

A profound loss for the disability community. May his memory be a blessing.

I was at a webinar about federal policy changes and their impact on people with disabilities and their families, and someone in the Q&A said "I didn't realize this would be political." A webinar about FEDERAL POLICY. "Political" has lost all meaning.

I don't care if a non-disabled person accesses a disability accommodation for the same reason I don't care if a child whose parents are rich gets free lunch at school. We don't need to means test being a kind person. I have better things to do with my time than be a cop over social services.

I truly wonder what politicians would do if they had to try life on a middle income salary for even a month. Do they understand how much energy goes into finding groceries that your paycheck will cover and will keep everyone in your family full? Grocery prices aren't abstract economic theory to us.
