I know normalization is just what we've decided to do to cope but turning a botched assassination attempt on the president of the united states into a public debate on gilded playspace is FUCKING STUPID and I refuse to treat this bullshit pivot seriously or with respect.

One thing to understand about the shadow docket is that it's a deliberate "fuck you" to literally everything and everyone who isn't in the majority of the Supreme Court. The rule of law, the American people, and especially to the lower courts whose work is summarily reversed without explanation.

I don't like having thoughts like this, but a move like this almost feels designed to demoralize district courts, who've so often done careful, rigorous work, only to see it vanished by the shadow docket.

This move by SCOTUS is deeply insulting. The district court gathered a massive amount of evidence in record time, and District Judge Jeffrey Brown wrote a careful 160-page opinion. Now a majority of justices have dispensed with it without even providing a full written opinion.
