Einhander is an extremely spikey game. Damage output if you have one of the "good" weapons (grenade, beam etc) is absurd, deletes bosses. Shot-limit means your basic peashooter does waaay more damage at point blank range. Patterns reward offensive, proactive play, removing enemies before they fire

BROWN GIRL IN THE RING (1999): Catching up on SBG reading. Family drama by way of Vodun magic & folk horror. Coming-of-age story about a succession of mothers, where "agency" is choosing how your life & body are instrumentalized. For your child? Your man? Your community? To what ends?

At episode 31 now. Noticeable pickup in quality when the first arc ends and they have to do their big status-quo shift. Still a very simple and seldom-surprising MOTW show, but an exemplar of that format. Rubbing its two brain cells together hard enough to start fires
