Controversial opinion (on this website at least): The 2020s weren't the first time in history America had problems. Nor the first time young people had reason to feel pessimistic about the future. In fact, false nostalgia insisting that everyone had it so easy back in the day is part of the problem.

In order for America to actually heal its divisions, we need to reckon with its two original sins: the genocide of Native Americans by the initial government structures during and after the Revolution, and the deliberate sabotage of Reconstruction by the racist remnants of the South.

I don't think it's so radical to say that anyone who denies that Biden won the 2020 election should be barred from holding public office. It is an unquestionable mark of a seditionist and on par with pledging loyalty to a foreign government or army.
