Birthday swim is in the books… so once again I got my ocean/river/lake trifecta 💙

Got my feet in the river today, with my sister, and it was colder than the ocean by a long shot.

We had a nice 🍂🍁 peepin drive today, lunch with my sister, and a quick hike to Houston Brook Falls. New England fall gloriousness. We visited some new towns and noted a few places to check out again.

Just home and turned on the Toronto game and what a beautiful thing 🥺🎉

Two favorites, I’m so excited

My Sunday sure got away from me but I did make a pie: nectarine and blueberry custard, to use up odds and ends of fruit and cream. And if my phyllo thaws there will be spanakopita.

We had a nice Sunday drive up to Norway, to Waterford and back down through Bridgton. I am glad our new car has a sunroof.

My friend Nancy died in Jan ‘24 and this week I received a box of books from her library. I cried a bit but now I’m smiling. She had such great taste.

Unblinking man at our local farm market talked for a very long time about raw milk. I had not had enough coffee for that conversation.

I was in the car all weekend and it was 100% worth it. We reminisced about Seattle friends and places for hours. Boy do I wish she was closer. And how amazing to have a friend who will drive 13 hours round trip to have dinner and breakfast with me. ❤️

So I am just going to be in the car all weekend, between her and the house-sitting. I hate driving. But I love her more than I hate driving.

My friend is driving from NY to see me because we haven’t seen each other for 15+ years. ❤️ I thought she was coming next weekend. She will be here TOMORROW. Tomorrow. And I am house-sitting this weekend somewhere not at all near her. So I have some planning to do. 🙂

What just happened in this game? What a shitty start.

I’m rewatching Lost and the first season is really good. I got bitter, disinterested a few seasons in on the first watch; will I stay engaged this time?

It’s the last weekend for Bresca ice cream so we strategically went blueberry picking and then had ice cream for lunch because oh look! we’re driving right by. Such a lovely day. I chose passion fruit with ruby chocolate and creme fraiche key lime pie.

A nice afternoon at camp, celebrating my nephew’s first week of kindergarten. Never have I ever been so relieved to have a child enrolled in public school. Also we had lobster rolls and summer fruit cobbler!

I have never seen the Clemson entrance and wow, is that something. Do they even need to play a game?

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people, which is why people shouldn’t have access to objects that make it a lot faster and easier to kill people.

We paddled Runaround Pond today. I saw dozens of turtles, 5 or 6 herons and a beaver-or-muskrat. It was so windy that the return was a chore so I have that good-tired feeling. A little sunburned on one patch of leg, unfortunately, but a decent trade for a nice day.

Today is Pick Books for Vacation Day so I went to the library to grab my holds. But, the library is closed. Closed. I guess I am going to have to (gasp, drumroll)… read my own books.

I picked up my pottery today and here are some of my favorites! I’m so happy.

My sister and niece are in London on vacation. El got a surprise visit to Paris for 6 hours, her dream since age 7, and her smile in the picture of their cafe lunch makes me so happy I could burst.

Today I found a house I love (but it’s pretty far away…) and a dog I love (he’s also far away). I’m going to take both as positive signs. Let’s see what happens. Hey universe, I also need a car.

A new feature at the beach I’ve been going to for three+ decades. I 100% got out of the water when I saw a seal. 😬

I have had a truly fine nectarine this morning. One almost worthy of Keats. Stone fruits are one of the great pleasures of being alive.

I remember being in Ilwaco, Wa during a tsunami system test and it was scary scary. Thinking about my west coast friends.

Day 2 of pottery class. I have two pieces ready to fire and will finish 4-5 tomorrow. I’m really happy with 2-4 of them. I’m making less junk this time! Now to control myself on the glazing.

Ryne Sandberg was one of my first favorite players. Super sad to hear of his death.

Skunk in the yard! So cute and fluffy. The one good thing about not having a dog? I can admire without panicking about not having tomato juice.

We went to the Refuge League today but when we went into the dog area I couldn’t do it. I waited for R in the lobby. I’m not ready. 😢
