I don't understand why so many people have been seduced by the idea of technology doing all the work for them. Is it because they're only interested in the output and not the process? How did we get to a point where so many people are so attracted to what is effectively being lazy?

My dad came to the UK with nothing. He needed financial assistance for years; he even had to ask a charity for money to buy a suit and train ticket for his university interviews. He became a world-leading migraine doctor and helped countless patients. He “took”, then he “gave”.

My son is helping me with Christmas tree and I swear I will never, ever complain again about doing it on my own.

This is so good. This is the Englishness that I knew and loved.
