Comics I'm reading: The Summer Hikaru Died vol. 4. Quite the gear shift in the story, moving it into a different space and pace, really focusing on the core mystery, and not just the characters. The artwork continues to be a gorgeous evocation of the stillness of summer.

Now social platforms and AI men are pushing disconnection, shoving us into AI black boxes with humanlike bots to fawn and steer us, dissociating us from our own independent thinking, creativity, and choices of action. We're being isolated from our own agency as individuals and knowledge of self.

Whatever spin you may hear from politicians, there are only two actual positions on healthcare. “Universal healthcare that covers everybody,” or “we must protect the huge industry of insurance middlemen making money off of it.”

I don't care if you think that AI can do some really nifty things. It's being rammed down our throats by obscenely wealthy men who are also, obviously, both dangerously right-wing and mentally unstable, and no rational society should be allowing that to happen. End of discussion.

Looking at the craft of this and honestly wondering what kind of a soulless person does it take to think AI should replace this beautiful process? I can't do this, but that doesn't mean I'm going to use AI. I'm going to marvel at the brilliance of people that can do this, and be thankful for them.
