I know this is not the biggest concern going these days, but it stresses me out that basically every artist/writer/critic is now expected to create their own tiny empire instead of getting paid by any existing entity to perform a job they've worked to get good at!!!!

Fuck the reflecting pool. This has not gotten nearly enough coverage or generated the proper outrage. People thrown in prison for 30-50 years for the "crime" ofmaking zines and belonging to a book club!! This is straight-up totalitarian atrocity. Political prisoners thrown in a gulag to rot.

Enjoyed a double shot of Long Island hardcore tonight: Incendiary & Glassjaw (I had to miss headliner Touché Amore due to my recovering busted body). Incendiary remains my favorite modern hardcore band. T’was my first time seeing Glassjaw and they were gloriously unhinged.

Very lucky to catch one of my all-time favorite bands, Converge, play a free last-minute show at the Epitaph parking lot, especially since I’d been cooped up with an injury all week. Needed this⚡️

For decades, that shitty snare roll at the end (right before the “La La La”) used to be like nails on a chalkboard for me, but now I appreciate them leaving such a ridiculously sloppy take on the record.

Although I haven’t seen Heated Rivalry, this song’s apparently gotten popular again due it being used as a needle drop in the show. I shot this in August 2007 and distinctly remember getting full body goosebumps when that crescendo hits in the middle of the song.

This was the 2nd show I ever attended, a few days shy of my 14th birthday, and even then I knew I was witnessing something special. Couldn’t ask for a clearer table setting for the music that would dominate my teen/ young adult years.
