Working with LLMs has galvanized my view on dependencies. Most tasks never needed external packages. But now we can generate vanilla solutions in mere seconds. Deps were always convenience over necessity. Now they're not even convenient.

i am a web app maximalist (especially on mobile) we have made browsers into extremely good environments for executing untrusted code so we should just go all in on those and notably work on making browsers themselves better with the understanding they power the future of apps

here's a little thing i've been tinkering on for a while: a ~2kb validation library written in vanilla javascript (with typescript and standard schema support). i've just been copying it from project to project, improving it as i go. vendor it in your app, use it instead of zod or valibot.
