The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party. Was never a problem for Jeremy Clarkson. Was never a problem for Andrew Neil. Was never a problem for Alan Sugar

Meanwhile Robin Ince genuinely has been cancelled for daring to voice his opinions and for defending trans people. Where's the outrage from the "cancel culture" lot? What are the Free Speech Union doing to help him?

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

The problem with the BBC being the nationās finest engine for soft power, is that people have realised that they can easily exert hard, nasty, cruel power on it, and bend it out of shape. Empathy, curiosity and compassion shouldnāt be problematic qualities that need silencing. Seems they are now.

Not comfortable with the celebrations in some replies, but the article is weird. Paints him as a working class hero and "character", rather than a man with a lifetime of violence.and hooliganism, who fell to his death while taking part in a festival of xenophobia. It normalises it. Dangerous.
