I’m not going to tell anyone not to go have fun at a con. Fun is scarce right now! But Covid is very real, we’ve had five years to understand that, and all we’re getting is an ever increasing stack of dead bodies (yes, still) and disabled folk (millions and millions.) That can change.

It’s time to be honest about Covid. If you’re a healthy person, no one is suggesting you live in lockdown in 2025 (if you’re a disabled people they tell you to do this constantly.) But events refusing to consider covid are knowingly endangering your health, and the health of those you come home to.

As regular people, we can do a few things. Lobby venues to require masking and HEPA air filtration, and lobby powerful voices to demand these things as part of their appearance. But mostly and most effectively, we can mask. Your mask can be decorated or bedazzled! But it should be on.

i’ve gotten so many compliments on coordinating my KN95s with my fits you can do it too! and the best part about it is you protect yourself AND you make it safer for others around you if everyone did this more of our immunocompromised friends could participate too it’s what starfleet would do 🖖

If you attended Fantastic Fest you need to be isolating. Even if you're testing negative. Even if you feel fine. The number of late positives have been through the roof. Yes, even if you upped your vax right before.

you might want to test for covid regularly, too, because unfortunately half of all cases are asymptomatic. without a positive test result confirming an infection, you might not even know you’re sick and, thus, should stay home.
