There have been over 100 cases of hantavirus in Argentina this past year & no reports of person-to-person transmission. It’s a rare phenomenon, but it happens. I spoke with @nytimes.com about chronic wasting disease (CWD), a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disease that affects cervids (white-tailed deer, moose, & more). Right now, there is no known method for eradicating CWD in the wild, and that’s the problem. Full article: ow.ly/Yyjk50YQK61.

We have identified many factors that increase the risk of long COVID, but there are others I'm sure that will still be identified with continued research and monitoring. The bottom line is we still have a lot of work to do to better understand this very issue.

In voting to eliminate the universal birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine, ACIP ignored decades of evidence confirming its strong safety profile and effectiveness. Its decision will result in more hepatitis B infections and more people with chronic liver disease.
