I don’t know how to describe this correctly. But an aspect of my wip that stuns me is that it refuses to feel old, tired, dried up. Despite working on it for years, it keeps evolving even as I draft it. Maybe it’s just because it’s *my* thing, and I’m figuring out how to tell it my way.

I truly don’t understand generative AI. I don’t get how anyone can turn to it for ANY part of their creative process. Everything about my projects has developed BECAUSE of the struggle I went through to create something from nothing. If I eliminate that struggle? What is there that’s creative?

Nobody works this hard for this long to cover up something this bad unless they are guilty.

I just saw someone yell “they’re just using it to generate ideas!” And I hate to say it But if you work in the ART DEPARTMENT and you need a death machine stuffed with your colleagues’ work to give you ideas Quit.

i think it is fascinating that so many artists say that their best ideas come from out of the blue from within, it is sad that the world is now specifically set up to eliminate those moments of calm and peace where the ideas can surface.

I have reached 40k in my high fantasy single pov rewrite draft WIP. That’s about roughly half of what I aim for in this underwritten draft. With vacation time soon, I think I can crank out the rest pretty quickly. Shifting my goal from Valentine’s Day to New Year’s to get this draft done.

The big earthquake last night near my area of Japan interrupted my sleep (primarily it had the effect of waking my kids who needed some calming down) and thus I haven’t been able to draft today yet. I might find energy this evening. Here’s hoping.

Tomorrow I’m going to reach 40k WIP total word count, almost precisely the midpoint of the novel as planned. I’m stunned. I doubt I’ll finish the draft this month but soon after, yes. Maybe if I go into overdrive during vacation in a couple weeks? We shall see…

Sister-in-law says the air defenses in her city of Kyiv are working effectively, it is the massive number of drones and missiles every night that cause havoc. Hundreds of drones to target. Some get through. Even if the defenses were tighter. Anyway. This is my reality. I refuse to get used to it.
