I made friends with @theangrynoodle.com, who invited me to a Discord server for specfic writers that has given me the writer community I needed. I also sold a shit ton of books back in the day, lol. It used to be excellent for that, getting freebies from businesses, and even effecting some change.

I think a lot of people have a very basic, surface-level view of what racism even is. They think of it as the more direct, blatantly hateful kind: cross burnings, slavery, lynchings, yelling slurs, etc. They don’t consider their milquetoast version of racism to be actual racism.

at a certain point you realize that you’ve written an entire page of dialogue and used 15 different words on one page for “said”. this is the day you truly become a writer.

SO, I've heard it said many times that you should find other dialogue tags to use instead of "said." But now, everyone uses "said." Because "said" works great. There's no need to replace "said," unless the character is asking a question, or yelling, or something other than "saying." 🤔🤔🤔
