An amazing thing about Florence is how much art there is about outside to hang out with for free. Not just decorative arts (though cool) but also fine art!

On a less whiny note, here's a great church I went to for free today

One thing I am not enjoying about Florence is how expensive it is to visit churches. Imo, every city gets one, maybe two you get to charge for. Otherwise, churches should be free and you can put your particularly good mosaic or painting behind a curtain & charge 3 euro to see it like elsewhere.

I so highly recommend writing get out the vote postcards as a way to get involved in local elections across the country. The time commitment all depends on how much you want to dedicate, and the costs are relatively low!! Just five to ten minutes a day can make a big impact!
