You should have art. You deserve beautiful things. A lot of my alarm over the last 24 stems from concern that people sound like we can't have art in bad times. Bad times are when we need art.

If the Met Gala tried to answer whether fashion is art last night, the answer would not come from the objects shown at the gala, but from the discourse on social media. As you can see from reactions, people still primarily see clothes as consumables, akin to shaving creams or office supplies.
