whatever's going on with Obsession's box office take right now is really quite insane. can't think of another case like it. and the fact that Backrooms is also about to open *huge* and doesn't seem like it'll eat meaningfully into Obsession is even crazier.

I think those "let's turn this solid 2 hour movie into an okayish 8 episode series" are best understood as an enrichment activity for movie stars now that Hollywood doesn't make 2 hour adult programmers anymore. They're the pumpkin stuffed with raw meat of the entertainment industry.
