The A415 causeway is the main problem. It is currently a choice between a busy A-road or a narrow, bumpy, elevated footpath. So many who would like to cycle to Europa School and @ukaeaofficial.bsky.social are instead pushed into cars, adding to congestion, pollution, and road danger.

Parents at the Europa School and staff at Culham Science Centre have presented an 870-name petition to Oxfordshire County Council calling for a cycle route along the A415 and a safe crossing. They say the current situation poses “an unacceptably high risk of injury and death for children”.

The only "storytelling" that can beat Reform is one that doesn't just keep blaming immigration for people's problems. Because that's telling people to vote Reform. Do you know who runs Reform, who could be a storytelling target? Billionaires.

The electorate has clearly recognised that traffic problems can only be solved by reducing the pressure of traffic. And alternatives: bus, rail, cycling, walking - must be improved and integrated, so they are more inclusive and attractive.

Regardless of party it is hard to think it is optimal to see mayors who are supposed to be champions for their area elected on a quarter of the vote. Govt would be wise for purposes of legitimacy to switch the system back from FPTP to a supplementary vote.

Our prime minister shouldn't be taking sides. What about those who can't drive and take public transport, walk or cycle? Is he not on their side? Why is Labour - cutting fuel duty - funding large road infrastructure - increasing the cost of public transport - not investing in cycling? 😬👎

A lot of talk about hard choices. Really not: choosing austerity, going after our vulnerable communities—that is the easy choice! Labour haven’t made a single hard choice here. Hard choices would be e.g. meaningfully addressing Brexit*, stopping anti-immigration policies, taxing wealth etc.
