People thinking that's a plausible cover story are doing an excellent job of proving that they've never volunteered to help anybody through any established programs in their life.

Pro tip: Food pantries aren't ever going to turn someone away by telling them to cold call random local churches asking for formula, so someone making that claim to explain why they haven't availed themselves of existing programs is automatically going to raise red flags it's a scam.

If you deter people from donating to their churches to help with those services, *no one* is coming in to pick up that slack.

I think the reason the "TikTok lady says churches won't help a fictional starving baby when they refer her to a food pantry" discourse pisses me off so bad is that churches are the most reliable and consistent donors to food pantries and homeless services in my area.
