Thank you to #TheCairnDistillery and, of course, @thewhiskywire.bsky.social, for a wonderful evening full of flavours. My dram of the night was CRN57° 12 Years Old, purely because I found it less dry on the palate, but in terms of lingering flavour the CRN57° 30 Years Old was amazing.

Thanks Steve again for your work on this and for The Cairn Distillery for the samples I will be honest, I am not blown away at all. The colour, the flavours are all very similar. With a 70/30 sherry/bourbon and 43% on each, I don't know, it just didn't hit the mark for me. Maybe playing too safe?

#TheCairnDistillery CRN57° 30yo 43% ABV Palate: another thick mouth coating arrival, surprising for 43% ABV. Complex : this is going back to the berry jam notes of the 18yo with poached pears, golden syrup & orange zest alongside dried fruit, dates, figs & prunes. Each sip offering a little more.

Palate: Medium bodied with a soft creaminess. Rich dried fruit, toasted hazelnuts, dark berries, orange peel, old libraries full of polished oak shelves and dusty books, cinnamon and ginger spice #TheCairnDistillery

#TheCairnDistillery Dram 4 30yrs Palate: almond, surprise. A little spice, drying tanins again. Not moving on much from the 25yr old. Maybe I'm having an off day. But these are all really similar in their profiles.

So creamy and winey with Brown Brothers Orange Muscat & Flora, orange blossom honey, Werthers Originals, vanilla milkshake, sultanas, Charbonnel et Walker Maple Brazil Nuts and Fondants, pine, mint Tic-Tacs with a chai and buttercream finish #TheCairnDistillery

#TheCairnDistillery 30yo Palate: herbal notes mingle with roasted coffee beans, ginger snaps, Granny Smith apples and some dark chocolate. Much more woody finish than the previous drams.

Finish: Mild astringency, dried fruit, liquorice and oak spice #TheCairnDistillery

CRN57° 30 Years Old #TheCairnDistillery Nosing: pain aux raisin, apple strudel, red berry sweetness, polished oak wood, faint earthiness

There's a very distinct range style that builds up through all of tonight's four releases. Will be very interesting to see how this replicates/transpires into their eventual single malt core range. #TheCairnDistillery

Water reveals butteriness with burnt butter, hot buttered toast, butterball turkey in soft white bread, banana bread, Roka biscuits, lemon drizzle cake, Victoria sponge, caramels, orange and blackcurrant Fruit Gums and milk chocolate rose creams #TheCairnDistillery

#TheCairnDistillery CRN57° 30yo 43% ABV Nose: musty and meaty! Grilled steak on a BBQ, Toffee Pennies and more of that lovely rum & raisin ice cream. There's a burnt orange zest note and some dark chocolate.

Last is #TheCairnDistillery 30 Year Old. This time I get lemon meringue, crisp green apples and then sherried fruit. It’s quieter, but still full flavoured.

Nose: Baked apples stuffed with dried fruit and dusted with cinnamon and brown sugar, Medjool dates, candied orange peel and caramel toffee #TheCairnDistillery
