The final in-person Crowdfunder tasting took place in Glasgow last week. We tasted: 🥃 Bailie Nicol Jarvie (1990s) 🥃 VAT69 (1960s) 🥃 Jura 8 years (1970s) 🥃 Cameronbridge 31 yrs (Cadenhead's - dist. 1992) 🥃 Glenfarclas 22 yrs (Cadenhead's - dist. 2001) 🥃 Benrinnes 17 yrs (SMWS - dist. 1988)

Cracking blended malt from the folk at Dark Sky Spirits / Moffat Distillery. The 3 components are from Mannochmore, Linkwood & Teaninich distilleries. Lovely sherry note coming through but not overwhelming. 46%, UCF, natural colour, 60 quid darkskyspirits.com/products/the...

The new Ardgowan #Distillery in Inverkip is aiming to produce between 750,000 and 1 million litres per year. Interestingly, there's space next to these stills for another pair of stills - meaning output could be doubled in the future.

Dram 4 - Palate - nice, thick texture. Hints of maple syrup, Nutella (although I haven't had that in yonks!) and overripe strawberries. Nose suggested this would be a 'green' whisky but it's actually more of a red one #BraveNewSpirits

Dram 4 - Inchgower - on the nose, green olives for the win #BraveNewSpirits

Dram 3 - Palate - hints of fresh pear with a bitter, dark chocolate note into the finish #BraveNewSpirits

Dram 3: Palate - this is a spicy wee number! Fresh ginger, cinnamon and a hint of chilli pepper? Not sure about that last one #BraveNewSpirits

Dram 3 - Glen Elgin - on the nose: poached plums, slight nose burn, strawberry laces in a paper bag #BraveNewSpirits

Auchterturra is a fictional village for the comedy show Scotland The What? which ran from 1969 to 1990. In fact, it's a 21 y/o #Ardmore distilled in 1969. Opened for the Crowdfunders' tastings, this was well received. A bottle most would overlook but this is a #whisky with plenty of history 🥃

Released on 2nd - not 1st - April.
