Had this little guy in the garden this morning - a hummingbird hawk moth. Fast little bugger made it very difficult to photograph with a phone 😂 but an amazing creature to see in person.

#BlindDrams 5 nose is Frazzles. Then leather, and something fruity underneath.

Nose on #BlindDram 4 hit me with feints to start. There's some good wood smoke once the glass has cleared. Proper bonfire. Some white pepper there too.

#BlindDrams 3 nose: Smelt like something I want from Christmas after resting - sweet and smoky. But agitating it gives more funk and dirty peat.

#BlindDrams number 2. Good bit of peat on the nose. Not overpowering, just a nice smokiness.

First #BlindDrams starts with lots of sweetness and orchard fruit on the nose. Smells peppery too. Something more savoury when you go back to it. Palate brings something funky. More savoury. Big alcohol kick.

Ready for my first #BlindDrams. It's making the room smell amazing.

I've always liked Lochlea, and this one's delicious. Much smoother and more rounded than the first couple of crops.

Getting painfully close to the end of this one. And just as we're getting to peated season.

Wasn't sure about this one from SMWS - very hot, even with plenty of water. But put it in a high ball and it really comes to life. It's very dry and coconutty, like eating the flesh of a brown coconut.

Getting into the Cask Share tasting set with Raasay's 5yo chinkapin oak. I prefer the nose in this to the palette.

Midweek dram is killing off a bottle of grain spirit I aged myself in a mini rum barrel. Turned out better than I expected - very smooth, just only really tastes of vanilla.

Got myself a leftover Holyrood tasting set from The Spirits Embassy. I've enjoyed their stuff before, so looking forward to seeing what we've got here.

After some Sunday gardening, it's time to chill in the hammock.

Three of this week's 6 whisky deliveries came from auction. £60 for this little collection seemed good.

As with the nose, the smoke on the palate isn't overpowering. It's a sweet, woody peat that's backed up by plenty of floral notes and summer fruits. There's also a little citrus zing and rich chocolate. It's the complexity of the original I love, dialled up. #SpeysideDistillery

#SpeysideDistillery Fūmāre CS Nose: peat smoke to start, a little briny, a little floral. It starts gently and then builds. Once you get past the peat there's some orchard fruit, hint of tropical and a little citrus. There's a little vanilla, forest floor notes and some rum and raisin ice cream.

The Fumare has long been a favourite but the CS is new. The nose is that familiar vegetal peat - not overpowering, just warm and reassuring like a wet forest floor. #SpeysideDistillery

The palate doesn't scream 59.4% and it has an incredibly rich mouth feel. It's a sweet whisky, but struggling to distinguish any prominent flavour. #SpeysideDistillery

Quite thin on the nose. First note was stale water and I started to wonder whether my glass was clean. But there's caramel and cream as I've gone back to it. Also some peach. #SpeysideDistillery
