For all my woes in the direct market, 1 year to draw ~200 pages and getting a third of that advance upfront to support the entire book production in trad pub is NUTS lmao. I want whoevers making that schedule to go through this production timeline on a 10k advance and tell me how they feel after.

The US comic industry really needs a youth movement. Young exciting voices will lead to successes. You just need to take some gambles instead of reshuffling same creators The lose of entry level publishers hurts in the long run. Not every new creator is built for crowdfunding. Need spaces to build

Every year, Marvel and DC should subsidize a cartoonist emeritus to produce an annual, 12 issue take on the universe. Any characters they want, anything is on the table. One year and out. These would be the best selling graphic novels from either every year.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve set it a thousand times: we need rom com comics. Shoujo manga is huge and we’ve got a bit in middle grade/ya but we need to make this a MUCH bigger subsection of comics.
