I dragged my feet on picking up Hajime no Ippo and managed to get my hands on the first 2 out of 3 sets before they went OOP. I highly recommend anyone interested in checking out the series to do so with this complete set because it’s damn good.

It’s always surreal to watch an anime film in a theater with a large crowd. People were hooting and hollering throughout. They even clapped after a major fight scene. The film itself was fine. The arc isn’t really built for the movie format and it felt like I was binging a handful of episodes.

I think I'm 'punchier' or 'harsher' towards popular art I dislike, as much of the art I resonate with has some level of stigma, obscurity, or outright disdain heaped on them. critical uniformity tends to only happen when something makes everyone happy. good art does not everyone happy.

The Doctor Who finale was something. It rushed right through the Rani/Omega storyline to get into the meat and potatoes of the episode: Ncuti Gatwa's farewell. It's an overstuffed mess capping off what was a pretty solid collection of episodes. Which is a shame too because Ncuti is so goddamn good.

Super cool. I can only hope the international release is just as stacked.

A season made up with banger after banger is to be praised, even if the penultimate episode of Doctor Who feels a bit anticlimactic-y. Here’s hoping they can stick the landing with the finale, but if they don’t… I’m having a blast watching Doctor Who again.

I’ve been thinking a lot about getting back into writing. A good exercise for me would be to write about the movies and anime I consume on a regular basis. I’ve never considered myself a particularly serious reviewer of media (just look at my Letterboxd) but I think it’s something I could pull off.
