Serious credit to Gov. Pritzker, Mayor Johnson, and a bunch of people in and around Chicago who stood up to illegal, unjust, un-American, rights-violating anti-immigrant (or sometimes just anti-brown-people) federal operations. If they weakly acquiesce like some others did, courts don’t take it up.

If I was a state legislator, I'd introduce a bill capping future buyouts for head coaches at state schools at a reasonable level. Coaches get high compensation ostensibly in part because there's risk. Part of our problem in society is a culture of bailing out the elites.

Democratic governors from California and Illinois are threatening to leave the National Governors Association unless it denounces President Donald Trump's troop deployments to states.

This is a really good thread on NGA. If NGA is unable to speak up about intrusive Fed deployments then Dem governors should speak out, leave and find another way to work together. I do understand KS and MN had previously left, which might affect the math on votes described here.

I know my governor, @govwesmoore.bsky.social, is a vice chair of NGA. I'm asking him to join with Govs. Pritzker and Newsom in drawing a bright line here. Don't try to preserve consensus when first principles are being trampled. If you can't make it work, speak up and move to something that does.

Gov. Abbot is sending TX guard to protect fed agents who fire on us and lie about it. Guard won't be able to trust what their partners tell them. Worse case, they carry w/them the harms they become party to forever more. Best case, they're taken from families to be props in a social media show

As part of being in a cancer study at NIH, I had to have a lot of blood drawn. The phlebotomist was a wizard. I worry that he isn't there anymore because of DOGE, which would be one of so many low key but real losses to the nation.

Its hugely important to continue to explain that the the "protect federal facility" justification from the administration is a dishonest pretext, and is being used unjustly to allow intimidation and bullying of the communities where opposition to this president rests.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. (Someone is going to say B.P. isn't the military, but look at them).
