In our most recent AAUP TV episode, Jeremy Varon, Prof of History and AAUP The New School Leadership Council member, discusses the university administration's proposal to terminate up to 40% of full-time faculty. The proposed layoffs will be catastrophic for faculty, students, and staff.

The fight against austerity at The New School is connected to other fights in higher ed challenging admins that hire Huron, a consulting firm that offers data to justify budget cuts & faculty layoffs. Ujju Aggarwal of AAUP-TNS says that solidarity across AAUP chapters & unions is the way forward.

The AAUP chapter at Oklahoma University released a statement demanding that the President and Board of Regents defend Mel Curth, the instructor put on administrative leave after the viral fallout for failing Samantha Fulnecke’s essay, from death threats and targeted harassment.

This is a big bipartisan win to restore 1 million federal workers’ freedom to have a voice on the job. The Protect America’s Workforce Act rightfully reverses this admin’s attack on collective bargaining rights, & I hope to see the Senate take it up soon. federalnewsnetwork.com/congress/202...
