President Trump doesn’t seem to care about the struggles Americans face. While families grapple with rising housing costs and a higher cost of living, he continues to put himself, his family, and his friends first. @alsobrooks.senate.gov on how Trump is failing the American people:

This week, I stood with my colleagues to call on the President to sign the bipartisan housing bill passed by the House and the Senate. Marylanders from Western Maryland to the Eastern Shore are saying: housing costs too much. We have a solution. It's time to sign the bill.

Congress passed a bipartisan, bicameral housing solution. Instead of helping families afford a home, the President threw a tantrum. The message from this White House is clear: lowering your housing costs isn't a priority.

The President promised lower costs. Instead, families are paying more for groceries, more at the gas pump, and more just to get by. The promises were cheap, while everything else got more expensive.

From Mountain Maryland to the Eastern Shore, and everywhere in between, I hear the same thing: housing costs too much. Today, the Senate passed the ROAD to Housing Act to increase housing supply, cut red tape, and make homeownership more affordable for hardworking families.

It was a pleasure to welcome 130 students, faculty, and chaperones from Accokeek Academy to the U.S. Capitol. I was thrilled to meet with the group and share about my work in the Senate. Always inspiring to meet the next generation of leaders!

What happened outside John Rodgers Elementary/Middle School during a preschool graduation was cruel and deeply disturbing. Schools are meant to be safe havens where children can learn and grow without fear. Maryland must be a place where families feel safe sending their children to school.

Can't deny the data. This President's economy is failing.

4.2% inflation. The highest in three years. At some point, Republicans have to stop rubber-stamping every expensive priority and start focusing on lowering costs.

Rising fuel costs are causing the price of crabs to spike. And in Maryland, we really don’t like it when you mess with crabs. This Administration seems to have unlimited money for slush funds, ballrooms, and wars with no end in sight — but no plan to lower costs for the people footing the bill.

Yesterday was day 100 of the war in Iran. Families are still feeling squeezed by rising costs. Gas prices are still skyrocketing. Yet Republicans keep spending billions while offering no explanation for where this is headed or how it ends.

I met with UMD Women's Basketball Coach Brenda Frese to discuss the rapidly changing landscape of college athletics. As NIL, revenue sharing, and athlete protections evolve, we need policies that support student-athletes, protect their rights, and strengthen college sports for the future.

Hardworking Americans are tightening their budgets. Republicans aren't. They voted to give another $70 billion to ICE with no serious reforms and no plan to lower costs for Americans. When it comes to their priorities, Republicans put the American people last time and time again.

Republicans want billions of dollars for ICE funding, slush funds, and billionaire giveaways. When it comes to lowering health care costs or helping families afford groceries, suddenly there's nothing left. That's the choice they're making.

Americans are struggling to afford groceries, gas, housing, and health care. Republicans have a choice: fight for working families or keep protecting Trump’s slush fund, tax fraud, and costly political agenda. Today, we will put them on the record and see who they truly represent.

Pride Month is rooted in courage, resistance and the belief that everyone deserves to live safely, freely, and authentically. We celebrate the LGBTQ+ community who are fighting for justice in Maryland and beyond. The work toward a more inclusive future continues. 🏳️‍🌈

The federal budget is not Trump’s personal piggy bank, yet he created a $1.8 billion slush fund for allies, loyalists, and January 6th rioters. Less help for hardworking Americans. More cash for cronies and Trump’s allies. We must end this blatant corruption.

On Memorial Day, we honor the brave Americans who gave their lives in service to our nation. Because of their courage and selflessness, we enjoy freedoms too often taken for granted. For all the families mourning a loved one lost, my prayers are with you today and everyday.

A reminder for every graduate walking into the next chapter: "Those who try to hold you back, believe me, will not do so because you are unqualified. It's because they need a head start."

Instead of voting on Trump’s $1.8 BILLION billion dollar slush fund, Republicans packed their bags and headed home. Apparently protecting taxpayer dollars becomes a lot less important when it's the President's spending spree.

Rising costs are crushing American families and this President does not care.

The Trump Admin should focus on lowering costs, not forcing neighborhood community banks and credit unions to enforce immigration laws. I saw this coming and introduced legislation to stop this overreach. Americans deserve access to financial services without fear, surveillance, or intimidation.

The Senate finally voted to advance a War Powers resolution to end this costly war. While Americans face rising gas and grocery bills, the President's attention is elsewhere. I urge my Republican colleagues — join me, pass this resolution, and deliver for hardworking Americans.

I’m heartbroken by the horrific attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Muslim communities should be able to worship freely and safely without fear of violence or hate. We cannot stay silent in the face of Islamophobia. My prayers are with the victims and their families.

Families are already struggling with rising costs and should not be forced to pay junk “convenience fees” just to pay their bills. That’s why I filed a resolution to restore CFPB protections against these abusive pay-to-play fees and stand up for working families and consumers.

The racist and xenophobic attacks by two state Delegates targeting Del. Chao Wu are vile, disturbing, and completely unacceptable.

If we want to build a stronger nation, we have to see each other as neighbors and build a future where everyone has an on-ramp to opportunity and a chance to prosper.

The federal government should not force banks to enforce immigration law. That is not their job and would sow chaos in our financial system. Our bill prohibits the Trump Administration from attempting such overreach.

People are tired of just getting by and deserve a real shot at building wealth. That means lowering everyday costs and creating pathways to generational wealth through homeownership and access to the digital economy. We should be focused on both.
