Heeey, look, it's me! I'm super hyped to announce that @bsky.app have given me a grant to work on the standards for the Federated Credential Management API (or FedCM) to make them really work for all decentralized web applications.

Blacksky's app view source code has been released publicly here.

Wait‽ How can *.host.bsky.network (Bluesky PDSes) decentralize the atmosphere? Especially while adding active users? It's counterintuitive, but real: the metrics I use take "market share" into account, and right now, Bluesky PDSes are not adding active users fast enough to maintain market share.

This is an important reminder that even if you move your account off of Bluesky, Bluesky can still block your ability to access most of the network - so in practice, you are still forced to follow their ToS, even when those terms are questionable. It's surprising but it's how this place is built.

It would be nice if @support.bsky.team made it a lot clearer to folks that blocking the moderation account is a TOS violation (But also this is a VERY weird setup.)

The blacksky.community web application now uses our own API servers to load posts, timelines and profiles. When data is missing (accounts on the edges of the network, outside of our primary community, etc) we leverage @microcosm.blue

The atmosphere has some great labelers that do an amazing job of moderating. But as PDS admins, we do not have a great solution to use these amazing resources. So I created label-watcher. It subscribes to multiple labelers and notifies you if a user on your PDS gets labeled by a watched label.
