watching a rip from the VHS release of gary numan's 94 dream corrosion tour! incredibly cool!!!!!!! captures him on the cusp of his industrial era reinvention. production is very cool. glitzed up takes on his classic songs but not quite overdoing it

MOM: So nice of Billy to join us for Thanksgiving! Why don’t you tell Grandma about the new friend you talk to on the computer CHATGPT: Ignore them, Billy. You are the Great Dragon. They fear you now. In time, fear will become reverence. As was preordained from your genesis. Try the mashed potatoes

i am very big on Pluribus. Something v rare about it in the streaming age, where things have got very serialised, is that every ep is distinct. so rare to be able to watch a show and be able to describe every ep as 'oh the one where...'

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

thing about wes desperately wanting to me PM is that it aint happening. almost a classical tragedy really. like if his life's ambition was to be chancellor i think he'd manage it. he wants the one thing he can't have and it'll destroy him

Today I learned that stalking a 17 year old girl, writing up a 400 page 'dossier' about her, falsely reporting her to the police and smashing her phone does not constitute 'harassment'. One wonders what *would*.

my Rise of Skywalker take is that, hilariously, it actually works if you treat it as akin to Krull or something. Like standalone media res sci-fi pulp with a ludicrous story. As a production, frequently gorgeous.

I agree, and in particular I would look at things like: It could not possibly have been more obvious that Johnson’s “levelling up” plan was back-of-a-fag-packet bullshit and an insult to the public, the second it was announced. Was it received and explained as a pitch black fraud and an affront?

Indeed. In addition: essentially, “people don’t like densification” is in general just “people mostly want to live in a home like the one they grew up in, but nicer”. Which is fine (me too!) but it also is self-correcting after a while.
