what this comic really needs is the woman explaining to the Sea Lion, in full, what the fuck is up. And the Sea Lion running off. Then another Sea Lion shows up to start anew. And then runs off. And then ... and then ... And then a bunch of other sea lions all file false reports en masse.

Incredible what a great Rorschach test the Platner tattoo is. Almost no one I have respect for is defending it and almost everyone I think is a dishonest hack is coming up with excuses. Like, cutting across ideology even!

thank god this isn't the nazi website and is instead the libs defending nazi shit as some purity testing the youthful folly of boys being boys and also there is an actual nazi population growing because they thrive in conditions where being impolite and not blindly trusting them is considered rude

There’s a Batman villain called Arnold Wesker, aka Ventriloquist, a milquetoast guy with dissociative identity disorder who thinks he’s being “forced” to act as a criminal mastermind by his gangster-dummy Scarface. A lot of real-world orginalism is basically judges doing an Arnold Wesker impression.

The Bars of Expectations. This is my cartoon. If you see it out in the wild without my name on it, it's still mine. But I'm glad the point of it is being shared: Too often we allow the expectations of others to lock us in and prevent us from being our authentic selves.

It’s really simple. If you stand up for my rights, you are my ally. If I do not stand up for yours, I am not your ally. If you want more allies, stand up for more people, not fewer.

I agree we need a big coalition. So if transphobes want to fight fascism, I'd say they need to recognize that antifascism is going to need a big tent, so they're going to have to stop issuing political purity test and let trans people live their lives. We can't afford to shrink the tent for them.

I dislike "big tent." I like "solidarity." Solidarity holds on even when it's unpopular, which is dangerous, but it doesn't let people go. I distrust those willing to give up this group to get that group while saying "we need all groups." We DO need all groups; so hold tightest to marginal groups.

billionaires should not be allowed to exist because the downside of "one of them loses their mind" is simply too dangerous for a functional society also, having a billion dollars tends to make you lose your mind

If you are confident that a boat near Venezuela is carrying drugs, you stop it and board it. That way, you have evidence. If you don't really care if a boat near Venezuela is carrying drugs, but you just want to kill people, you blow the boat up. That way, the irrelevant evidence is gone.

I really need people to understand that refusing to seat fascists is an antifascist act that protects democracy & is not the same as fascists refusing to seat antifascists to destroy democracy—in the same way that finding a guilty person guilty isn't the same as finding an innocent person guilty.

One nice thing about living in a liberal democracy rather than a police state is that you do not spend time feeling paranoid about whether the government is monitoring you, whether the people around you are agents of the state.

Something maybe worth noting is that all the frog costumes and signs and good-natured memeing came about because a wide spectrum of Americans saw someone in direct, brave confrontation with ICE—getting pepperballed and standing their ground—and thought “that’s awesome. That person is a hero”
