I feel a little left out, tbh. And the snow that I could normally go visit...all got rained on this year. A little concerning for our water year in CA 😬 We rely on our snow pack.

I think the armor-piercing question is: does it work/help? The answer is 'yes'. Is it more important that people be kept out of detention and not murdered than it is for disabled ppl to have a migraine or a crash? The answer is also 'yes'.

The thing about this kind of mass sincerity and earnestness on the part of all these brave people hitting the streets in Minnesota and everywhere else is that it's going to make disingenuous lizards like Newsom look unfit for the times. Heaven help us if the party doesn't match this energy.

I love it when people ask questions like this to try to trap people. We had a whole bunch of requirements that moved people to vaccinate their children and they've been slowly dismantled by kooks! You don't need to vaccinate at gunpoint, just bring back the requirements!

A child should not suffer or be doomed to painful death because a parent is wilfully stupid or obstinate or loves Trump. And this isn't even about spreading to others. Children are not property. A parent treating them as such is why we're here now.

This is a bad take. Getting vaccinated, unless there's a medical reason not to, is part of how we care for our communities & how we function as part of a healthy society. Allowing parents to 'opt kids out' of important things like school is not the answer. Science based health is for every kid.

Last night I learned something from my activist mom. She's been working town halls for her senator, and he told her that all our calls & emails, positive and negative, are the ammo he needs to help persuade his colleagues to take action.

Anyway, your main power as a parent is to shape a child's reality. You can intentionally or unintentionally teach them that the world is their personal domain, or you can introduce them to their role in a larger community.

A quiet lesson my parents taught me at a very young age was to leave things for other people to enjoy. Whenever we took a hike or go camping we were never allowed to pick wildflowers or leave a mess. This reinforced that we live in a shared space and that it was important to treat it that way.

Something a little different. Some cartoonists put out a call for comics about local ICE experiences. This one happened a few months ago so it's a little older than current events, but it's a story that I never stopped thinking about. #ICEoutcomics

The actual story is that a family of American citizens trying to evacuate from a neighborhood that ICE had made unsafe, and then ICE tossed munitions into the car, causing three kids to be hospitalized and a six month old to stop breathing. DHS called the family “radical agitators”
