Blue Thunder – Throwback 40
We live in an age where concerns relating to police overreach look to be cropping up in the news on an alarmingly regular basis. Look at the stories about misuse of lockdown powers during the pande…

While I’ll always be a fan of shops selling books, the snob in me (wary of people buying books for purely ornamental purposes) really fucking wonders if TK Maxx needs to be retailing 5 (FIVE) separate editions of Stoker’s Dracula. Aesthetics are important but who are the different audiences here?

Goodnight from Leah Flitford, yet again scrubbing ectoplasm off the skirting boards after a séance gone awry. Goodnight from Pengrove Primary School, where all the leaves and twigs on the nature table have twisted themselves to spell the words: ‘WE KNOW’. Goodnight from Hookland.

Seeing as it’s bank holiday and people are talking about cruises, it’s time for my anecdote: Bloke in work said he was going on a cruise and I said, “Where to?” and he said, “Santander,” and I said, “So, it’s a bank holiday then?” and he didn’t laugh. I’ll nurse that grudge to my grave.

Here is an easy solution: Food stains are humiliating, as they suggest you're a little baby who can't feed themselves. Oil stains, such as those you'd get from working on your car, suggest you're tough, independent, and skilled. Thus, simply cover your food stains with used motor oil.

“At a time when cinema is fighting for its existence and defining itself as a recognisable expression of lived human experience, this is precisely the kind of ugly, overbranded, lifeless digital marketing vomit that represents the sinister end of it all.” Kevin Maher on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Glen Powell joylessly bleat their way through this supremely vacuous anti-movie which is, at times, physically painful to watch
