Barred owl babies are fed by parents for 4-6 months. Even after they can fly at 5 weeks of age they remain dependant on their parents who teach them to search for food.

Cameron Park Zoo in Waco TX has a new black-footed cat kitten (Felis nigripes). It's exploring grass for the 1st time here. This species is the smallest wild cat in Africa, but with the highest hunting success (~60%). They eat 1/6th their body weight in rodents & birds every night.

This is absolutely true. These are the people with the power to stop this mess. They know better. They deserve all the contempt and pressure.

We encountered our first snake while hiking with the dogs this week and it has freaked out my bestie. Luckily, I was the one who spotted it and stomped to scare it away. People who hike with dogs: What is your snake protocol? Do you bring anything with you to prepare for a snake encounter?
