In today's Hollywood, the studios would see an ad like this, and immediately reshoot the ending of the movie. We're very fortunate that the 1980s Star Trek movies weren't subject to the same kind of toxic fandom that led to "The Rise of Skywalker".

We need fewer guns in the hands of people who shouldn't wield them. We need leaders who encourage calm and reconciliation in the face of heinous crimes like those in MN and UT instead of calling for retribution. Cycles of assassination and violence, once begun, can become impossible to contain.

The shooting of Charlie Kirk is reprehensible, and I hope he fully recovers. This attack comes soon after MN Speaker Melissa Hartmann was murdered and MN Senator John Hoffman was shot. Political violence is a growing threat to our democracy. This must stop.
