Bowie myth-making: most of his schools were not in Brixton but Bromley. He "studied Art" at school, along with maths and English; he didn't go to art college. And I'm not sure many of his songs were written on beaches, which are in short supply in Beckenham. (h/t @vinny-m.bsky.social)

Watched that fascinating Pauline Boty doc last night. Intelligent input from all the talking heads including @jasonhazeley.bsky.social of this parish. She would clearly have gone on to be a major British painter of David Hockney/Bridget Riley proportion and profile. A tragic loss.
