"I hear you singing through the wires." Goldfinches at twilight. We've had one for the past few days chirping its little heart out. But they've obviously told their mates. "Yeah bring the family. Plenty of room."

I'm googling Mudo vintage T shirt for a particular cool top I wore in the early-mid 80s. I hadn't realised how many faux vintage tops have the word VINTAGE written on them. What kind of Barry Shitpea would buy such a thing? I've just answered my own question haven't I?

Classical in its beauty. Better that Banksy could ever conjure. The blank uncomprehending stare into the Brexit abyss by a man who has constantly been let down by a Nation's inability to go back to the 1950s via 1966. I don't understand it Beryl. I just don't understand it. What happened?

We were watching Guy Garvey From The Vaults as we had iced coffee - Gen X Rick Kids etc - and C said "oh they all look so baby faced don't they? Snarly punks? You just want to squeeze their little cheeks." And they do and you do.

The playing on Bangla Desh by George Harrison is Young Americans four years before Young Americans. "I mean what else is there to say about the Beatles Rob? It's all been said." Several twat publishers.

Lunchtime listening. First dub album I ever bought Sept 1975. Really comes into its own on melting tarmac heat haze days like this.

Just taken immense pleasure in issuing a Fuck Off And Die notice to yet another identity theft scammer who assured me they have read Drum and "would genuinely enjoy sharing a creative cinematic perspective on the book and discussing several adaptation possibilities that immediately come to mind"

I dreamed about Syd last night for the 1st time in years. He was reasonably together but handed me a till receipt and asked me to go into a shop that had short changed him for a £20 note. Oh and he then played me a lovely nursery rhymish little song he'd composed and said he was writing again.

Me and my beloved Uncle Brian, c.1985. He sent me this pic a few years ago, explaining that it brought back fond memories of the day he first taught me how to light a crack pipe. Brian Case, 17.8.1937-13.7.2026. One of the UK's greatest writers on jazz and the funniest man I've ever known.

Anyway, one of the best things about the football was it made BlueSky feel like 2014 twitter. Everyone watching the same thing, having a funny take, genuinely good stuff

My prediction 3-2 them 3-2 us 3-0 them. And if Tuchel brings on Mainoo for a pointless 10 minutes when the game is gone my language will get me kicked off Bluesky.

I appear to have gained 30 new followers in 24 hours. Just to let you know I don't automatically follow back and certainly not if your feed is one long screed of shouty politics. But I engage with everyone who wants to chat. Also *taps sign* Hergest Ridge is better than Tubular Bells.

Around this time 60 yrs ago my Mum opened a letter that told me I had passed the 11+. I loathed and detested this divisive and class ridden exam then and I have most recently lived in areas that still have the 11+ (Stretford and Calderdale) and I loath and detest it still.

Made the mistake of trying to engage meaningfully with a couple of non-followers and then I read their feeds and realised they're as violent and angry about everything, not just football. Seriously thinking of locking the account for a bit, responses from my followers only. Attracting too many twats

Hi folks who don't like football, or sport much in general. Respect your preferences but have you ever considered why football or sports in general are popular? The sense of community, collectivity and joy (and occasional weeping and wailing woe) they engender. The escapism, the theatre, the humour.

OK muting my own thread in 3-2-1. Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun, or in the case of that man who sent the vile Kevin Ayers one last night, got something pathological off your chest.

Thank u to everyone who joined in the fun and games last night. It helped take my mind off how woeful France were. I'll be deleting the post later as I have a morbid fear of waking up every morning for the rest of my life to strangers alerting me to how much they hate Tweezer and LCD Soundsystem. x

Stephen Dalton in y/days Times calls Starman Bowie's 'kitsch sci-fi anthem' but I never thought it was kitsch did you? I always think of Alice in the car when she was 6. "Play that one again". Oh you like that one do you Alice. "Yes" she said. "I like the story." We all did.

Keep looking at this photo taken the month Revolver came out and I want to find Meadesian or Barthesian ways of writing about Revolver (or any record for that matter) that give equal co-existent weight to both. I am of course not likely to be troubling publishers with these thoughts any time soon.

Was down the fields just now, picking blackcurrants. Few stop to pick but some stop to chat. One lad passing by. "Aye I thought they were out. My mate said the birds have been crapping pure Vimto on his car."

We were at Glasto one year. Artist camping next to a couple of yups who didn't speak to us all weekend. As one packed up his tent to leave on the Sunday afternoon (lightweight!) he said to his mate 'see you at Henley'.

6 days heads up on this. You'll thank me. Next Saturday's Batman on Talking Pics is one of the all time great episodes featuring Louie Lilac as he attempts to brainwash the summer of love flower children with his evil new perfume. It gets a mention in PAOC. That's how good it is.

Driving back from the shops musing on a time when R1 wouldn't even say the name that Max Romeo Top 20 hit as I listened to Minnie Riperton singing 'will you come inside me you can come inside me' on the show that Charlie Chester would probably have been presenting on R2 at the time.

It will be the centenary of my Dad's birth next year and I can't help thinking he would have been quietly chuffed at the amount of attention he gets off me on here, albeit with the occasional pedantic "no, what I actually said was...."

Flicking thru a holiday brochure that contains the dread phrase 'and evening entertainment for the mums and dads' and as with music for care homes never considering that their clientele might have seen Hendrix at the IOW you just know there's not going to be a Half Man Half Biscuit tribute band.

I miss them playing both the semi finals and the finals of the Mixed Doubles on the last day due to a rain affected Wimbledon. I miss playing Totopoly round my mate Mitch's house while it pissed down outside. I miss Peter West standing under an umbrella casting a wary eye skyward and discussing this
