I have silently side-eyed every man who chimes in to say how much they like One Battle After Another. If you enjoyed that i suspect that you don’t exactly see us as human beings. Which is fine. But worth noting it for my files.

Sinners: Most Oscar-nominated movie ever. 16 of them. 4 wins. Best Actor Best Original Screenplay Best Cinematography Best Score. So it was acted the best, written the best, filmed the best, and sounded the best. But it was not the best picture. Ok. 🙄

And I’m be the first one to own it because I most definitely was NOT moved until seeing him in Sinners. And I’ve followed him and his filmography for a longtime. He’s improved. He plays THREE characters in Sinners. And he should be commended for it.

Has a moment to reflect. OBAA was fine as a movie if you ignore how underwritten and underused the Black women were. PTA is a good director so sure whatever. But Sinners was masterful. Vibrant. Layered. What an accomplishment from the entire cast and crew. I’m glad it exists.
