I will say the thing that AI does really well is emulate that precise feeling of meeting someone new, and they seem amiable and pretty verbose, but over the course of the conversation you start to realize that they’re very stupid.

gAI art is bad because it's stealing labor. stealing labor from art is easy because no one sees art as labor, they see it as talent. they see it as talent because it's easier to believe they have a right to hate you because they can't stand they gave up and you didn't. fuck them, pay labor.

Burnout is clinically understood as a combo of 6 factors—work overload, lack of control, insufficient rewards, breakdown in community, absence of fairness, & value conflicts—and only a fraction of it is under your control. Burnout is a systemic problem, so be kind to yourself and hard on the system.

Hey gang I've had to learn recently that the whole "burning out" thing is real so if you find yourself being panicked every waking second that you're not working on something, despite those seconds being very rare, you should maybe listen to the signals and take an intentional break before you crash

I wholeheartedly support the cause behind boycotting American businesses to protest the tariffs. That said, please be cautious of extending that same reasoning to small businesses and creators. Many did not want or choose what is happening, and will be struggling with these changes as well.

The not-art-related tip I give anyone who wants to be a professional artist is: seek and nurture sincere, positive relationships with your colleagues and friends in the industry. if you want artists to make weirder art, you have to create stable living conditions that allow them to. homogeneity isn't a matter of artists lacking culture-- there are many soulful artists out there-- it's a matter of unregulated corporate dominance combined with artists who cant afford to create

Making the art of your heart is wonderful, but your favorite artist is likely grinding out someone else's ideas just to live. If we want to honor Lynch's legacy we need to create a sustainable system in which artists are allowed to pursue their passions without economic or commercial pressure.
