Seeing sequential posts on my feed about JKR and the Exeter Uni redundancies highlights a genuinely good cause she COULD be using her platform and money to advocate for (as an alum of Exeter), rather than what she actually does spend her time doing which is degrading and harassing trans people on X.

The 2 most recent novels I've read are BLACK BAG by my fab colleague @lukekennard.bsky.social and WOODWORKING by not-colleague @emilystjams.bsky.social. While VERY different, they're both about how gender is beautiful and weird and can make people crazy. Strong rec for both!

The characterisation of Cat in the pilot of Red Dwarf is so, so good. Everything about him is entirely, believably a cat that evolved into a human over millions of years. Of course he acts like that. Of course he looks like Prince. It all makes sense!!

Kate makes a very important point. We should all have been fighting against casualisation for many years. For those of us in (relatively) safe jobs, we should avoid feeling suddenly sorry and outraged that our jobs have become more casualised.

Squarely in my mid-30s and yes, I do often hurt myself by sleeping funny, but I also feel so much more comfortable and confident in myself and my body than I ever did in my 20s and teens. It's a great decade to be a person!

Not gonna turn down the opportunity to play the Ocarina of Time remake, of course, but I can't lie that I'm disappointed that this is the next Zelda entry we're getting. Would much prefer a Link's Awakening-style remake of some of the older and hard-to-access Zelda titles.

This film honestly deserves so much more love than it gets. I could have watched a much longer film than it was, would have happily stayed with Sammy and his family all through his life. A truly special film.

I went to see Tuner (which is great). There was a group of old ladies in the cinema, one of whom said 'No' quite loudly in response to the Disclosure Day trailer (rude!!). When the film started they realised they were in the wrong screen but decided to stay and watch Tuner. I think they liked it?
