One factor I come back to is the way in which game storefronts have a de facto monopoly over games distribution. For sure you can still buy the game elsewhere, but margins are very thin for indie devs, so deplatforming them means devs will avoid making similar games, and our media is worse for that.

I have many thoughts about this, one is I can't help but think this is all just shining a light on how games are still being held to wildly different standards than other media like film. I've played very few games like HORSES but watched so many films like it (as a connoisseur of arthouse horror).

I am a little disappointed when the conversation is focused around "it's art not porn!" because the adult games devs get very little support but have been dealing with this for far longer, and they've been sounding the alarm for that deplatforming coming for other games (such as LGBTQ+ content).

98% of complaints about "fun things were so much better when I was a kid" is because YOU WERE A KID. You did not have the responsibilities and the lack of energy you now have as a forty year old middle aged adult. I mean, SURE, winter holidays were better as a kid because adults did things FOR you.
