I've seen James Gunn's Superman movie 3 times now & I'm still impressed by how great a movie it is. I don't mean as a genre film. It's a great movie, similar to how Richard Donner's Superman is a great movie. I don't know if Gunn's is a masterpiece like Donner's is. It's too new, time will tell.

42 years ago this same weekend (i.e. first full week of June) "Gremlins" and "Ghostbusters" opened on the same day. "Gremlins" never got above 2nd place, but stayed there most of Summer.
