Reminder: If Trump believed even for one minute his orders to the military were always going to be lawful, he would’ve endorsed the PSA from democratic lawmakers, not threatened to have them arrested and executed.

On the day the first Guardsmen were deployed, I wrote publicly that deploying U.S. troops needlessly in U.S. cities on an open-ended mission they’re not trained for and that’s certain to create massive civil tensions is destined to end in gunfire. I also wrote that Trump knew this. All still true.

The shooting of two Guardsmen in DC is a tragedy. It is also EXACTLY what Trump wanted and was waiting for. No POTUS has ever so premeditated getting our troops shot at for the sake a personal ambition as brutal as it is demagogic, dictatorial, and illegal. This is on (a) the shooter, (b) Trump.
