This is true. He also went to the center on issues that the general Republican elites never would have permitted to be official GOP positions, such as preserving entitlements, blaming Bush for his foreign policy disasters and rhetorically alluding to higher taxes on the rich.

Trump did what i’m suggesting not you. He went hard right on some issues and bucked the party to the middle on others (war, medicare, social security).

A populist left Democrat who thought climate change was a hoax would be an interesting Senate candidate in Louisiana. And if they won they'd be far superior to the MAGA insurrectionist that will replace Bill Cassidy otherwise. The alternative of losing by 20 and feeling good is also an option tho.
