What if Hexen was a girl? 💁🏻♀️ An on-and-off project of mine for the past few years, and focused on to release it [almost] in time for Hexen's 30th anniversary: and now complete! I redesigned and redrew the playable characters, and weapons that have visible hands.

This is an especially pointed message when you consider all the people who said Roe should have been codified to protect it from the SCOTUS. Codification didn't protect the VRA, did it?

I don’t know who needs to hear this but it’s okay to have a special interest or hobby that doesn’t have a bigger purpose than making you happy. If it does not make you happy it’s ok to stop. It’s all learning even learning you didn’t actually want to do that thing in the first place.

Been thinking a LOT about this page from "Understanding Comics," lately. I could only find this slice of it online, but it's enough to get the point across. AI "art" is the ultimate hollow apple.

I remember realizing this sort of thing when I was a teenager. (Apparently many adults still haven't.) Who is blindly anti-conformist is still conformist. Everyone has to find a balance between fitting in and standing out. The answer is to stand where you stand, regardless of whether it fits in.

The escapism of gaming isn't that you get to slay the dragon or explore the galaxy or whatever — It's that the problems you encounter are within your power to solve. There are enemies: but you have weapons. (And you're allowed to use them.)

There are some female player character mods for Doom that have been floating around for a long time. Now also ones for
Heretic
and
Hexen
which I made myself. 💁🏻♀️ They have no defined sexuality so you're free to define that as you see fit.

Hideous Destructor (a mod for modern ports of classic Doom) is on a similar level — even basic weapons are very deadly, healing is an active process that leaves you vulnerable for a bit, and finding safe places to manage inventory (down to rounds in magazines) is important. I rather like it.

As you use AI to simplify easy yet mundane tasks, like writing emails, you get increasingly dependent on it. You get lazy, less skilled, use your brain less, and (you may not want to hear this) get stupider as a result. Don’t let them take away your ability to think. Stop using it. Now.

The reason English spelling is full of inconsistencies and silent letters is because it’s not simply encoding how words sound. If English spelling were aiming to represent sound it would indeed be a total failure. But English spelling encodes words' meaning and history as well.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

When fiction presents a nuanced world and deals fairly and respectfully even with its antagonists; while the real world is teeming with comical cackling villains. What a world.

🤔 If it's not a close-up scene where individual drops matter, I think it'd make more sense to have larger quads representing clusters of drops all at once. Enough for differentiation between different areas (less rain under a tree) with an order of magnitude fewer particles to deal with.
