The fall of Trenchbroom isn't the most glamorous way to mark the occasion of Quake's 30th anniversary. But this is a welcome comeback from that, and a far better way to celebrate! (🤔 Ultimate Trenchbroom?)

Wrote up a script to better compress dialogue text in FF1 NES (rebuilds the DTE table around the existing text), which freed up like 6 KB of space for a friend's ROM hacking project who was scrounging for every byte. Bunch of old thinking and talents finally put to good use. Feels good. 👩🏻‍💻

Back in the early 2000s I liked using QuArK and made a few Quake Ⅱ/Ⅲ DM maps, while I found Doom mapping confusing. A year or two ago I tried TB and could barely figure out how to trick it into working at all, while UDB for Doom is sensible to set up. Guess I didn't miss much. 💁🏻‍♀️
