Nice morning at Clevedon sea wall. So many meadow pipits, lots of dunlin and ringed plover. Saw little stint and knot thanks to some lads with a scope (thank you!). Was so annoyed to see someone letting their dog chase the plovers :( #AvonBirds

An early evening dash to Pilning Wetland produced an excellent selection on the rear wader pool including a Little Stint, 15 Curlew Sandpipers, 11 Knot, a Golden Plover, 200+ Dunlin, 80 Ringed Plover, 100+ Redshank etc. hopefully something rarer this weekend.

Third helpings of the Portbury Wharf Red-backed Shrike this morning. Pleased to see a steady stream of admirers coming to see it.

The Curlew Sandpiper influx continues with 31 in the high tide roost this morning at New Passage, plus 3 Knot, 3 Whinchat, 4 Wheatear, Yellow Wag and Redpoll over. Cracking male Redstart (thanks for the call @severnsidebirds.bsky.social), Whinchat, 4 Wheatear and Siskin at Severn Beach.

A male Common Redstart has been hanging around in the same clump of coastal scrub at Severn Beach since first found on September 8th . Presumably it has delayed it's departure south due to the prolonged spell of wet and windy weather. The short video has the distinctive "hooweet" contact call.

Monday’s Sabines gull was still on the foreshore, below the sea-watchers bench, at Severn Beach yesterday. Still Manx, terns and phalarope in the channel.

Nice birding back in Avon over past 2 days. Red-backed Shrike showed nicely at Portbury early evening w/ 1 Willow Warbler, 18 Chiffs, 10 Blackcap, 1 Garden Warbler & 2 Spotted Flycatcher at Sand Point earlier. Balearic Shearwater was a Sand Point patch tick yday evening! @bristolbirding.bsky.social
